An idea evolved
Having visited the slums in Chennai city, our founders were moved by the dire conditions of poverty and hopelessness which shackled the people which were not allowing them to aspire to a promising future. They decided that simply witnessing this reality and carrying the sad memories with them would not be enough. They needed to do something to address the needs of the people.

A small project began at Chennai
With the support of a few friends in the development field, the dream of our founders was was turned into a reality. The first project began in 2020. In spite of many challenges, they were able to start an after-school project at Semmencherry slum in Chennai with just 25 children.
Official identity
As the support from family and friends grew, the burden to serve more people brought about the need to formalise the benevolent gestures of our kind sponsors who were willing to support these efforts. Therefore, the HAC Foundation was registered on 21st July, 2021 as a Section 8 Company under the Companies Act 2013.

Expanded to West Bengal
The experience of having worked among the slums in Chennai urged the organisation to look toward other communities who faced grave challenges in spite of their proximity to urban settlements. Thus, the Kolkata Kulberia project was started to cater to the needs of children in the village of Kulberia, a hamlet on the outskirts of Kolkata.
New beginnings in Jharkhand
HAC Foundation began its work among the tribal communities residing in Jharkhand. Setting up of the after-school programme for children, providing trainings for farmers on agricultural advancements, and building capacities of women on business and entrepreneurship have opened up new avenues for development of children and families.
